How One flight
Changed Everything
For those who don't know the whole story, it didn’t start with a meet-cute at a wedding, or a coffee shop, or a setup.

I traveled all the way to Nigeria to be the Chief Bridesmaid at my best friend’s wedding of 17 years. We planned a bridal shower and, to everyone’s surprise, her cousin from abroad showed up… and stayed. He may not have fully understood what a Nigerian bridal shower really meant, but he confidently held his own as the only man in a room full of women. I noticed that kind of boldness.
Two days later, at the engagement ceremony, this same man secured prime real estate under the only working air conditioner, agbada flowing and all, enjoying uninterrupted breeze. Meanwhile, I was in my seat melting in the Naija heat, so I did what any wise woman would do. I went to negotiate shared custody of the only functioning air conditioner. A simple greeting turned into an easy conversation.
By the wedding day, he found me again and offered his number. I gently nudged him that he should probably collect mine, too. We went on one date in Nigeria, and then both returned to our respective destinations.
When we got back, there was a brief break in transmission, which I believe was a time of realignment from God. As I told my boo, his angels were working overtime on our case. Lol.
Since then, it has been laughter, friendship, travel, deep conversations, and a love that feels steady and safe. I am beyond grateful and excited to marry my best friend, with God at the center of our story and our future.

It all started when I traveled far, far, far away for my cousin's wedding. Destination wedding level, far. Passport and all needed....lol
Now it begins, I was invited to the bridal shower. Keyword, "invited." But there was some small confusion somewhere, sha. Long story short, I showed up ooo!!! No shaking, I enjoyed myself, met great people, and then I met one lovely somebody. (Yes, yes, you already know who). Na blessing in disguise ooo!!! But we never talked at the bridal shower, just hello, hi, and bye...lol

Fast forward to the engagement ceremony. The heat in that place...omo, it was not smiling. I stood up and located the AC, positioned myself right beside it. Behold, someone spotted a fine brother enjoying premium AC and suddenly said, "Me too, I need AC." What a coincidence...lol...

Conversation started flowing, vibes were vibing. But as Nigerian parties go, we got interrupted.

Now at the reception, guess who was now doing surveillance, scanning the room, looking for my AC partner. Found her, sat next to her, and continued our conversation. Behold and behold, another interruption. Before leaving, I gave her my number, and what transpired next was that she gave me her number as well. Double assurance.

Before she traveled back to Canada, I asked her out on a date, a lovely date as well. (I know that because she said she only has an hour for the date, but we spent almost over two hours). When we both got back to our base, there was a break in transmission, network wahala...lol...but as they say, the rest is history. (Want to know more? Come meet us... lol).

Every day, I thank God that our paths crossed. Jade has been my best friend ever since, my gist partner, my personal comedian, my business partner, my cheerleader, and most importantly, my prayer partner.

I am grateful and blessed to be marrying my fine babe with fine dimples.
